Satisfying the directive of the McDaniels to increase knowledge in the local region and following the special relationship between Texas A&M and the Lyons family, MCF supports novel research within the A&M system with grants and value-added opportunities. The intent of the research program is for it to follow the interests of the McDaniels’ grandchildren. As such, the focus of the current research grant program follows the interest of Moran and Lola’s grandson, Mark Lyons. Mark is an avid offshore fisherman whose interest is focused on the fisheries of the northwestern Gulf of Mexico.
