A: Yes. Full-time is defined as a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester, fall and spring.
Q: What is the GPA requirement while I’m in college?
A: The GPA requirement is 2.5 each semester, fall and spring.
Q: If I am currently enrolled in your program and plan to renew my application, do I need to submit letters of recommendation?
A: No. The recommendation letters are requirements for new applicants only.
Q: What if my parents filed an extension and I can’t provide this year’s IRS form 1040?
A: You may submit the most recently-filed IRS form 1040.
Q: Can I transfer my unused award money to a family member who is enrolled in college?
A: No. The scholarships are non-transferable.
Q: Am I eligible to apply for the GCSP if I was home-schooled or received my GED?
A: Yes. You are eligible if you lived in Galveston County at the time of graduation. Your transcript or GED certification will verify this information.
Q: Can I submit a W-2 instead of the IRS Form 1040? What is the difference?
A: No. The IRS form 1040 Income Tax Return is required. A W-2 is merely a Wage and Tax Statement.
Q: Can I submit a copy of my transcript or does it have to be official?
A: No. All transcripts must be official, both high school and college. Copies will not be accepted.
Q: Is this scholarship renewable?
A: Yes. You must reapply each year in order to be considered.
Q: What is the deadline for the application?
A: The completed application must be postmarked June 1.
