Two thousand years of history, art, architecture, culture & more
An audio tour of King’s Cross
Two thousand years of history, art, architecture, culture, and the odd acid-house nightclub – welcome to King’s Cross!
This audio tour is a fascinating dive into an area that has undergone numerous transformations over the years and played a significant part in shaping the city we know and love.
The tour is packed with historical photographs, timelapse videos, and behind-the-scenes footage.
We have recently launched a ‘Read Me’ version of the tour for people with impaired hearing. We’d love to know what you think!
The tour starts at IFO, the illuminated ‘birdcage’ just outside the station entrances, and finishes up at the ‘kissing roofs’ of Coal Drops Yard. On the way, you’ll discover art in the open, award-winning architecture, plus get an insight into the colourful history of the area.
The Art & Culture Tour is totally free – anyone with a mobile device can listen and learn about this vibrant part of London. You can access the tour via this link, and there is free wifi throughout the neighbourhood.
The tour takes 45 minutes to complete, but you can press pause at any point if you fancy a coffee or a bite to eat, you are spoilt for choice with the cafés and eateries in Kings Cross. For shopping, head to Coal Drops Yard to discover a fantastic mix of boutiques, pop up shops, markets and more.
